Hellberg swedish steel in Carbon Fiber
Worked with the owner to come up with this design, I am not a huge fan of the gunstock-looking scales, but, the few tweaks and covered tang made for something that grew on me as I finished them off.
They fit like a glove, the sound it makes when it "klunks" into its closed position is very satisfying.
This razor is by far the thinnest tang razor I have ever seen. The razor is quite balanced, however, through the use of very light carbon fiber, thinned out to approx .090"

There's some things in life that turn out even better than originally imagined... this razor is one of those things.
Thanks for making this a reality Brad, you are a true artist.
It was a pleasure working with you.

Looks amazing!!!!
I'm in the middle of something similar (at least the covered tang part) and can say with confidence yours looks way better then mine is going to finish out.
As always great work!Last edited by MileMarker60; 11-14-2010 at 04:40 AM.

that is not a straight razor...THAT is a work of art! is carbon fiber hard to work with? I'm a gear head so, the only time I've seen carbon fiber is on a car or motorcycle. Truly amazing work you've done!

Carbon fiber sands quite easily, but, cutting 1/8" thick pieces ravages your tools -- instead of wasting $8-10 band saw blades, I use a coping saw and do all my cuts by hand... I get approximately 12" of linear cut before the blade has about had it ... feel much better about killing 50 cent blades instead of $8 ones!
