Thanked: 198wostenholmes ixl in black walnut, part 2
many of you commented on my first restore, and i am grateful on all the tips, and compliments, but after using that first attempt, woefully i found it to be an royal PINA to strop, so i took the advice of some, and redid the scales a little slimmer, this is what i came up with, again it is black walnut, but this time the wedge is made from a sea shell we picked up at the outer banks a few years ago, the washers are ss, and the pins are brass rod,i applied tung oil, to it, about 4 coats. enjoy

Thanked: 1936I personally like the blade the way it is as long as those darker spots aren't active rust. I simply like the whole razor, there's something about a "work" razor that is appealing to me. Good Job!

Thanked: 198yes shooter, that is what another member on here would call a bushmans razor, when i rehone it, it should definately hold a nice place in the rotation, i just have to figure out how to keep the rotation in order

Thanked: 1936There is only one way to keep it all in for a "rotation", a box of some sort. Here's mine:
All it takes is some brass "L" hooks, a couple hinges,a scrap piece of glass (mine was from an old TV stand, some scrap wood, and some sort of sealer. I used spray lacquer. Only real cost in it was the hooks that I ordered off the bay.
The empty spot tells me to grab the razor below it...Last edited by ScottGoodman; 11-21-2010 at 03:08 PM.
