Nice job. In the photos the plating looks good enough to pass for original.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Awesome work. Did you nickel plate first or is the gold applied directly to the steel ?

I don't have any experience to say but I remember another member doing this a few years back & he first nickel plated. IIRC he said the gold adhered to nickel better than steel but you seem to have had a stellar result.
