Sheffield MeatChopper horn w/white streaks
Lately I've been doing a few razors in horn. I realized my earlier posts have always been modern materials rather than traditional. This old meatchopper's steel is so beautifully black with patina, it'd be wrong not to share.
It's stamped ---otson's, Celebrated Razor Sheffield, with missing letters. At Unicletica.com the only manufacture that has these letters is Ibbotson's. The date 1847-1864 listed there seems like it'd be about right too.
Horn scales with white streaks. Show side has almost more white streaks than dark horn. Back side has deep coverage too. I wanted to have as much white as possible on the front. This is why you may notice grain isn't swooping the same direction at each side. This material batch, mother nature didn't cooperate.
Bone wedge, triple washers of brass-stainless-brass and nickel rods.
More images of this razor here if wanted.

What a Beauty! I admire the patina and am glad you saved it on this unusual old blade. The choice of horn for those scales really complements the blade as well. With those pins and collars, Perfect!
"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

Preserving the patina was an excellent choice. I love how it highlights the bevel at the edge. Beautiful job all around.

Gorgeous piece!
The attention to the orientation of the streaked horn = "SEXY RAZOR".
