Very nice work. The tortoise wedge is a nice touch.

    Nice looking restoration!
Is that lva abalone the same as working with plain acrylic? Beautiful material, and pricey!
Seeing your razor makes me want to try abalone.

It's about the same as working horn, but harder than celluloid. It might seem a little pricey to get the sheet, but I looks like you can get three or four sets of scales out of a sheet which makes this a great bargain.

Go ahead and try it. I've been holding off for a long time since I live in an apartment and don't have room (or cash) to outfit an entire shop with power tools. I've done all my scales with basic hand tools like a coping saw, hand drill, a dremel, and a ton of sandpaper....got the entire 'shop' at Harbor freight for around $40.

Working with so few tools, in far less than an ideal setting, makes your work shine even more! Persistence has paid off well for you.

Very nice! That's the 3rd Joseph Allen, including one I picked up on ebay, that has that NON XLL mark. Does anyone know what that means? Is it a forger's mark?
