Dexter themed Wade & Butchers
I was asked if I thought I could make some scales in a Dexter type theme, with blood splatter. I would never have come up with the idea on my own. They were so much fun to do. It was great to massage someone unique idea into the live thing.
As we talked about it, concluded bone scales would be perfect for the theme. So buffalo bone scales. Did the splatter art on top of shaped scales. After dried, epoxy resin outboard side, leaving inboard uncoated, to allow the bone to breath. Originally I was going to do 3 splatter razors. I intended a surprise on the third. That recent Friodur in Mother of Pearl I posted, I was going to splatter also. It looked so nice as a blank canvas, it didn't get the treatment.
One wedge is with camel bone dyed red. Has a similar hue as dried blood. The other was done in acrylic to leave a wet look. Triple washers brass-stainless-brass with nickel pins.
Many full resolution, monitor size images available here

As another Dexter fan I'll just say
Looks like the killer walked in the door & surprised the guy shaving who cut his own throatThe white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.
