Ah, that is a real beauty, great work!
Just curious, when you do a literal translation of "Coupe Chou" in English, it is something like "cut cabbage". Is that the true translation?

yes... or "cabbage cutter". A "coupe-chou" is originally an infantery sword in early 1800 :

it seems that this sword was big and bulky and not usefull in combat, it explain its nickname
I don't know why it gives its name to straight razors.
An other explanation :
in french slang, "chou" means head.
"coupe-chou" would come from the same origin as cut-throat. It's also one of the nicknames of the guillotine...Last edited by esspic; 06-07-2011 at 08:25 PM.

Can I please have it? Pretty please with a cherry on top. That is one of the most elegant razors I have seen. Absolutely stunning.
