I twisted it then hammered it flat on the anvil. I also had to do a bit of persuading with a big vise, big wrench, and a blow torch after heat treat.

Well, I guess I'm glad to hear that something that turned out so pretty took a little effort. I was fairly sure that you didn't just twist and eyeball it into position!
