My crown jewel, Genco Henry's XX fully restored. My best work ever!!!
Now I realize this just doesn't match up with the likes of Glen or Neil, but this XX is probably the finest job I have ever done as far as a ground up restore.
The before pictures sucked so bad, I didnt' have a single one worth posting. I'll have to describe it.
There was no rust, but boatloads of little black spots all over it. The pivot was incredibly clean, it looked like the razor had never been shave with. The oversized black scales did not survive my removal enough to go back onto this blade, so I used some NOS I got from revisor or the superior shave (don't know which place this set came from), probably TSS. However, I worked on this razor for at least 16 hours, used my new drill press to cut the pivot. I used my microfastener SS pin, nut and washers. I had to buff the scratches out of the scales, which I think I did pretty good on. The razor took about 16 hours of polishing and buffing. I managed to cut myself really well working the edge. It went thru 3 layers of cloth to get to my finger, and it did it with ease.
I don't think this razor has ever been hone, except from the factory. There are no hone scratches, no wear, and the scales were too clean to have been used. The folks I bought it from got it at an estate sale with an old Bockla that is next to feel the touch.
This is the crown jewel of my collection. I think this one is a keeper for sure. I'll never let it go.
Anyway, here it is... Please, any comments or constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated. Enjoy!!!
I do believe I may have to stop, I don't think I"ll ever top this one!!!
Thanks to all for all the support!!!
