    Default J.A. Henckles 401

    J.A. Henckels 401 square point
    Grind = super duper extra extra hollow
    Size = 6/8
    Scales = Bloodwood or Redheart (I'm leaning towards bloodwood but honestly can't remember) with 4x coats of low gloss tung oil
    Pins = 3 x 1/16th brass with brass washers and a brass sleeve on the mid pin
    Wedge = same wood as scales with brass liners

    This is my second attempt at making scales and 3rd cleanup of a blade. New for me was the 3rd pin and lined wedge, I don't like the small spaces on the wedge side that wouldn't close up no matter how tight I made it. They seemed to fit much nicer before I applied the coats of tung oil. I do like how the 3rd pin holds the blade up slightly, made the line of the spine match up to the scales well. Enjoy.

    You did a great job with that razor. I think you executed your concept very well.

    all comes down to taste on the scales... I like the concept but for me with the way it has rounded corners I prob would have gone with rounding the edges to give it a "flow". It seems somehow like it was not completed with the flat edge on the wood. Just my opinion. Love the color, finish and grain pattern. the style actually does appeal to me also. Maybe it's because it has one rounded and one flat corner by the blade pin. Not sure.... Great job on the finish though and the blade iitself looks fantasic!!!
    I'd put it in my rotation any day.

    Very nice! The brass liners really accentuate the wood. Good work.

    Very nice job. I really like the scales, good to see something out of the box. Thanks for sharing.
