Thanked: 21Rolls Razor modified blade
I'm wasn't sure which section to put this under so please move it to where it should be.
Wanting a blade for detail work I decided to modify a Rolls blade that was in bade shape. I cut off a section of the blade that had an edge that could be made useable. I used a red cut off wheel on my dremel with the Rolls blade clamped in a vise with wet paper towels used as cushion and heat prevention, I also kept a bucket of water next to me and stopped cutting often to wet the blade.
I didn't spend any real time trying to pretty it up. I removed any burrs with a sanding drum then cleaned it up with 320 paper and ran 800 grit over it a few times(big jump I know). I wasn't looking for pretty yet, just functional.
Honing wasn't as bad as I expected. A few strokes using my finger tips to "push" the blade on a 1000 grit stone, then a Norton 4000/8000 and onto the denim and chromium oxide you see in the photos. I didn't attempt any leather stropping, but found it wasn't needed anyway.

Now why did you go and chop up a perfectly good Rolls when you could have just used this thing with your straight or DE?

Thanked: 21Nice video........ The Rolls has alot of potential. The steel is excellent and sharpens easily. Too bad items like this aren't being made today. I'll be trying different widths to achieve different shaving results in the future. I'm having a good time with the Rolls Razor.
