    Sorry for my ignorance, why the liners? Is it aesthetics or to support the Zebra?

    Zebra cut on a cross grain like that best show off the stripes, but it has zero strength or rigidity. So it must be lined with something to keep it strong and straight. This would be true of any wood I could think of, not just Zebrawood.

    I am one extremely happy Alpine fellow. Thanks Bob - this razor is sublime and looks better than what I asked for! I can't wait to test the super wicked edge. I think this will require a morning shave when I am well rested and concentrating.
