    Scales are still too thick, need to smooth it out a lot, but getting there slowly but surely.

    A few more progress pics:

    Realized the scales were way, way too thick (originals were 2.85 mm or so)


    Very handy to have a digital caliper to let you know when you're getting close:


    Test assemble:


    A bit more sanding to go, then a few coats of polyurethane and it'll be done!

    Sanded down (extra fine grit sandpaper on the right, left side is sanded with steel wool):


    Wenge has a lot of deep pores that will require filling:


    First coat of polyurethane, now you can really see the rich color of the wood:
