At long Last - asymmetrical grind Eastern style Custom
Hello everyone, I hope you are having a good weekend. Well, at long last I finally buckled down and started finishing up one of the customs I started on ages ago (more to come in the near future). Anyway, here is my asymmetrically ground fixed blade razor. It is in 1095 heat treated to just over 60 rc. So far I can tell you one thing, it is a SLOW honer... hopefully it hangs on to an edge though. I designed it so that it would give a nod to the kamisori, but have a rough but still very angular look. I honed the slightest hint of a smile into the blade, and so far it's coming along well. I am really happy with the overall look and feel. It balances very nicely to my taste (I would have said it balances to the tang, but It's basically all tang ... lets just say I think it balances very well)
I used to like to name things when I'd restore them, and I sort of feel like it needs a name... but I have nothing so far - anyway I hope you enjoy it.

I would call it the machine. It looks like a very purposeful razor with a touch of class. Great balance, if you ever get tired of it I have a birthday every year!

Very cool, to my eye it has an "American" look to it in spite of the Kamisori style.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I agree. It looks like an American take on a classic oriental design. Brings up thoughts of the American manufacturing boom of post WWII for some reason.
