W&B 7/8 "Hollow" Ground
This is my first set of scales, so I feel like I have to show off.
The blade was hand sanded and polished, the scales are micarta which I made with canvas and bondo epoxy resin. There are a few flaws, but I'm not going to point them out . Special thanks to hibudgl and dirtychrome for advice and encouragement.

Well done.... Very well done !
Beautiful work. Scales and pinning are super.
I can't believe how the blade cleaned up. Lots of hard work are shining.

Beautiful restore, love the canvas micarta.
Is the micarta tricky to make?

Thanked: 1072Very impressive work, that blade was in bad shape. The home made micarta looks looks great too.

Thanks guys!
Actually it was surprisingly easy and quick to set up - I used this guide: Home grown "micarta"(picture intensive). The one thing I will do next time, is before starting put on like 3 or 4 pairs of latex gloves, so that when one pair gets sticky you can just pop them off and have another pair on ready to go. I only used 5 layers of light weight canvas, which was about the right thickness. Definitely give it a try, just do it outside as the smell will linger for some time indoors, and is probably not healthy to begin with. I cut the micarta to shape with a jigsaw and an angle grinder, this stuff is very tough to use a hand saw on.
