Default A Little Brass Rod Fun....

Iv'e done something similar to this on a knife some time ago so yesterday having a little time to kill I dug out an unused Workman blade (I picked up a box of them a couple years ago). Cleaned it up, did a quick "Ghosting" of an image (Flaming Buffalo) that I had used before. I used my laser to do this part.
After that I drilled out the tang and inserted some brass rod I had laying around, sanded flush and gave it a quick buff.
I did the scales out of some Translucent Tortoise Acrylic, clear wedge pinned with brass pins and washers. Admittedly the scales were rushed and they could stand a little more attention but I was just having a little fun.

    Looks like fun.
If you were just playing around it doesn't matter what the scales look like. They look great for goofing around scales though.

Looks like great fun. If we were neighbours I'd wanna come over & play with your toys
Can you tell us more about the laser ?

What did you use to drill the tang? Are we talking carbide bits? By the way, the razor looks great.

I am using C-5 Carbide Tip drills with mineral lub. The lub helps keep the heat down adding life to the drill. At the price of these things I'll do all I can to save them.

What do you all want to know? My laser is a 50 Watt Co2 Versa-Laser. I use it for engraving on just about anything, bone, horn, plastics, marble, glass, wood, leather, you name it. The only thing they say can't be done is metal...Well I have news for them, yes I can use a marking fluid and it gives a nice gray marking sorta like silk screening only this will not scratch off.
As you can see I developed a method for "Ghosting" a blade. I can add just about anything, even your signature.
I can cut many material such as wood, plastics, paper, rubber, horn, and bone. It makes very quick and perfect work on acrylics (yes 1/8' scales).
It also does wonders when doing inlay work for scales and other things.
I would be more than happy to talk about the laser more, answer any questions and show some pictures, just shot me a PM.
