However when I show it to Connor he's going to be champing at the bit for the custom scales that he wants for his 8/8 Friodur!! He's saved his summer wages and really wants you to make him a custom set!!

Glen, move this post if you need to. Here are a couple of pics of the razor. You can just make out from the pic that the blade is thinner than the tang. The blade looks as though it used be a much larger blade 8/8 or 7/8 maybe and has been ground or worn down.

The pivot was really lose and I think that the third pin may have been an 'after market' add on. On side is a flat-head screw with a brass nut on the other side.

Yes I would agree with your assessment Stu, this was a larger blade (#14 = 8/8 most times) in the beginning, and most likely the 3rd pin was Jury Rigged in there for the special purpose of keeping the razor from falling through.. You could check that out and see... My first thought is that since you are building custom scales for it you can also custom fit them... You might not even need the 3rd pin.. Also that spacer they used is huge !!!!... I would try building the scales with no 3rd pin planned, then you can add it after for function if needed, or for your pleasure if wanted.
