I love the lines of those scales! That was a common shape in early 1800s or so. The blade is fantastic; it still has lines and angles.

Great save on the blade and what a fantastic finish on the scales.

Beautiful work! I could get lost in those horn scales, loads of character in them! That's a lovely restoration there...

Here is some of the back story with this blade. My wife found it at an antique store and paid I think it was $18 for it. In all honesty the only reason I put so much effort into it was to provide my wife some positive reinforcement to continue keeping an eye out for razors for me. I can't tell you how much I appreciate the work Walt has done here. I really think he nailed it. Here is something Walt didn't mention-The first set of scales Walt started, as he thinned them down wound up being sort of bi-color, with dark on the front, and honey in the rear which I might have been OK with. Walt just started over to make sure this was done to his high standards. When I get this back with a Sham edge on it first I will convince my wife that it is the same razor. Then I think I will give her the honors of first use (she started using straights on her legs about a year ago). Maybe I can infect my wife with a mild case of RAD.
