Thread: W&B "the celebrated"...

finished it tonight at work *(still have a tad of polishing to do)... but when i got home i honed it up real quick and shaved with it........ holy cow.... i see why these blades are sought after... i was amazed at the edge it took and the close shave it gave me....

this is my first restoration... i have built razors but they were fixed blades.... this was my first attempt at making scales.... they are made from maple... unlined... shaped by hand.... the pin is 1/8th" brass rod and the pins in the tail are 1/8th" brass tubing... i made the bushings on the sides of the pin from tiny brass washers that i had to sand down in thickness with 220g..... this will be my workhorse shaver from this day till i get something i like more..... thanks for looking and i hope you enjoy......

The blade came up really well, nice job. Glad to hear is shaves as wll as it looks. Unique scale shape too. What is the finish on the scales?

I only have one W&B but it definitely lives up to its reputation. Nice work on the scales, very original.

thanks fellas..... the finish is tung oil...... it made a satiny finish... i will probably rescale it when i learn a bit more....

That is some serious spine were and a biggish bevel, which I suppose is to be expected with these older blades.
That said the wear is even and some of my custom attempts arn't as good, anyway done all that.
End of the day the shave quality is the important thing, and trust that it is.
