Ok, I said it was finished then but i promise its finished now lol

I ripped the wedge out and sanded it back to, thinnest part is about 1mm and thickest is about 2.5mm. And while i was doing that i shortened it slightly.

I think it looks a little more finished now.

@ onimaru55 - There is actually next to no spine wear on this! could it just be a poorly made blade? (or just poor honing) lol

That wedge is lookin' slimmer now mate
Let me redefine the spine wear. Not necessarily from previous honing but from restoration sanding or from radical pasted stropping in the past creating a convexed edge.

Maybe ironbark would be more challenging . Even the termites leave it alone
I've done a few it spotty gum so I keep that blade for cutting acrylics now . LOL...
At least you know the scales won't need replacing

Hard burnishing oil ? Feast Watson ? Organoil ? I'm an Organoil fan myself.
I will have a look at that Organoil, do you get it from carba-tec?

I actually don't have a band saw, this whole thing was done using a 18v Lithium Royobi Circular saw, dremel and hand LOL - It didn't take too long though, well considering. Today i did purchase a bench sander though and next on the list will be the band saw. I have to get this stuff in stages.

    Ha . Like I said . Hooked
Carba-tec may have it. I got mine from Bunnies years ago. Lasts forever for scales. Don't use much

i was looking at the baby band saws at bunnings, they are only $159. Could you use a Scroll Saw instead of a band saw for cutting out scales? I have never used a Scroll Saw so I'm not 100% sure of there comparison to a band saw.

    Very nice job

IIRC there are quite a few unbranded razors coming from Germany, but that doesn't mean it's a bad blade, most, if not all, vintage German razors are of good quality.

I was referring to the Organoil but got my bandsaw from Bunnies for $40. Long story but I'd go a bandsaw over a scroll saw if Jarrah is in your future
