Thank you all for your comments. I am slowly following the trail blazed by the guys that made the razor restorations possible by figuring out how the old guys did it. I was lucky in that I have a background as a machinist, industrial model-maker and Jeweler.
Yes, I think along those lines also. I have grown to like "luster" a word seldom encountered nowdays;or the word "gleam!" I have even done acrylic with a hand rubbed pumice finish..which may also be obtained with a gentle rubbing with "Bartender's' Friend" cleanser or by rubbing with a coarse tooth-powder or A pumice brass cleaner. A secret is to take the surface to a very clean polish first and then de-glaze the surface. The time differential is not enough to consider since I do much of the work by hand even though I have a buffer and assorted flex shaft machines and Dremels.
The razor does shave well Its first shave out of the shop came this morning. It needs to go back to the fine hones again but I drew no blood or weepers. It is a LARGE blade and a bit different than the 5/8th I have been using recently. It does handle well and I like the smile.
Thank you all again!
Respectfully
