Thread: Storm Irene Project in the works.

So what are you East Coast guys doing during the big storm?

Thinking that there would be no power today and/or for the next few days I decided to start a project that would take some time and lots of hand work (no power, no tools).

I had made a set like this a couple years ago from acrylic and always wanted to do some out of horn. After seeing a video posted here about a bunch of vintage razors found and seeing one very much like what I did I got busy yesterday and cut out a set and spent a couple hours getting them started to see how they would look.

Below is a picture at the point I stopped yesterday to head home and buckle in to ride out the storm.
At this point now I have one scale ready for the buffer and the second marked out ready to meet the files.

I went down to the shop today and you guessed it, no power. My shop is on the river which has no reached the edge of my driveway and it has been said that it will crest between midnight and 3AM so I'll be heading back down in awhile to keep watch. I think the shop will be fine but I am still a little worried. The last thing I need it the shop flooding out and my laser having itself a good drink of river water...

Anyway, what do you guys think? I am open for suggestions on wedge material so tell me what you think would rock these scales.

Those scales are inspiring, brass wedge, pins and washers ! Nice work!

I do depending on the material, I do not use the laser to cut G10, Micarta, Carbon Fiber, metals or LVS but I do engrave on these.

Wow so many guys so few suggestions....hmmmmmm....LOL

Those are pretty awesome! I think a white spacer could add some nice contrast to the darker colors you've got swirling around there.

See, I disagree with Tt. I think a dark wedge would contrast enough with the light horn at the wedge end.
