use a good band saw with a good rip fence. If the blank is 1.5", that = 6 .25" sections. I can typically get 4-5 good pieces out of that. Other wise just get the 1/4x1.5x9 pieces. I'm very frugal with my materials!!!! I really get obsessive with giraffe bone! Glad to help.
