5/8 Dixon Improved Eagle in Quilted Maple
I've just recieved this fine piece from my friend and fellow restorer Don Belanger (jcschilde). This is one of the finest restores that I posses, if not THE best. The second best was done by Don also.
This old Dixon 'New and Improved Eagle Razor' was not in good condition. As seen in some of the pictures the pitting on the etching side was horrible. Not possible to remove them all as they were just way to deep. I had this old Dixon hanging around for a few months, waiting for it's turn because it was just so bad, I knew it was going to take a ton of work.
I sent it to Don to do for me, on the premise that it should match with his 'Improved Eagle' but not made by Dixon. He did that, so this razor has a sister that looks just as good if not better.
Here she is, a full custom restore in Quilted Maple with a maple wedge in brass liners.
The finish on these scales is perfection itself. The wagon wheel barrel screws on the wedge end accentuates the wood accents beautifully. The blade itself is polished to a fine mirror finish. It is so nice that you don't even care the blade has some bad pitting!!
I could not be happier with this piece and Don should be congratulated for his incredible work. This piece is far beyond my skills to attain and I can only say Thanks, and envy the skills it took to put this masterpiece together for me.
Another beautiful Belanger Custom Restore. Enjoy mates!!
Mike
