Hi John,
Thanks!
I just cut out the blanks and shaped them down with 80G and then 120G belt sander from all the edges until they met in the "middle" then ground it down until i got to the thickness i wanted. Afterwards i hand sanded 220G, 280G, 400G, 400G wet, 800G then 800G wet. they are nice and smooth and you can see all the linen lines ... kind of like very dense wood pattern. No shine at all ... i have a set i made in black as well ... its nice material to work with for shaping but i an going to try G10 next time.
I hope this helps ... I would encourage anybody to try this as i find it maybe at first a little intimidating but if you pick a simple pattern it can be done with just a coping saw and hand sanding and create a very serviceable scale set.
Best Regards,
Mike
