Thanked: 19The Rattler
Found this thing on Ebay listed for $299.00 OBO... I offered $20.00; respond to crazy with crazy, right? Anyway... the offer was accepted, and I got the blade in yesterday. Here are the before pics:
For the restoration, I spent 3 hours sanding starting with 320 grit, then she got some attention with M o t h e r s.
Then, I went to work on the scales. I wanted to keep the ones that came with it; although they are not original, they still tell a story, I think. They seem very old, and it looks like someone really took some time in crafting them... who knows, maybe in 1908? I can only speculate. The scales were a bit too long for the razor, so I re-positioned the location of the pin, made the spacer much smaller, pinned it. I then re-shaped the spacer side end with the belt sander being sure to remove the old hole. Then I used some Old English oil to bring some life back into the wood.
I should get her honed and shave tested today!

Thanked: 43First off, great deal on that razor!! Second, the restoration is very nice. Still shiny but has some character still. I'm impressed you managed to save those scales. Let us all know how it shaves.
