Damn. I am rarely a fan of 'unique' scales scales on vintage razors. This though. This is superb!
From the original modification to this killer restore, this one is a winner in my book.-Zak Jarvis. Writer. Artist. Bon vivant.

I really like the scales. Not saying they are, but they just look like a tine from a deer rack the way they're shaped. Might just be what the maker did? Makes it very appealing. Once again your work is a home run!! Thanks for sharing with us!

Since there were a few questions on this, I took some after honing pics for you,,
The progression was as stated above 1-4-8 Norton and then Finished on my Select Grade Coti
Look close at the heel it needed that little hook on there to be taken off, I had to reset the bevel 4 times because of all the chips and nicks in the edge.. Those can be caused from two different things, first the razor itself knocking around in a drawer for years , and second when you start Buffing them at 80 grit greaseless it tends to rag up the edge a bit... I always set the bevel and then kill the edge on the corner of a 1k anytime I use the buffers on a razor, then re-set the bevel looking for a clean edge at 30x.. This razor required 4 times through to get a clean edge and a rounded heel. Tape, I never use more than three layers as IMHO it gets too spongy after that, on a razor like this I start with 3 layers and a magic marker test, I am looking for a small even bevel. On this razor it looked good right there, so I left it at 3 layers most often I end up at two..
You can of course re-grind the razor, but that changes it quite a bit, or you can continue honing it down to a more shallow angle, or you can spend 10ยข worth of some 3M electrical tape. Most people don't want a re-grind, they want a wedge, so I use the tape, then if the owner wants to grind on it later they can...
I hope you can see the actual bevel in the pics
Quit looking at the Gals and look at the edge

Thanked: 3Glen,
Got the Razor's and the new brush---Most excellent!!! you did a great job as the pictures show. I really have not got to shave with a newly honed razor so it was a treat to use a sharp one!!!! The Razor worked very well the only issues were mine and the learning curve involved as a new straight shaver. A couple of weepers is all and a pretty smooth shave all around. Thanks again Glen for the work, I am glad to have 5 shave ready razors ready to go before I deploy next month.
