WB 9/8 Restoration
Busy weekend... here's another Wade and Butcher, a monster at almost 9/8. Before:
After lots of sanding and rescaling (lots of sanding too):
It's hard to see but it's a really pretty brown horn. Original washers and wedge. I decided to leave the nice patina on, and just have a lot of honing to do now, can't wait to shave with her. The pitting at the edge actually wasn't that bad.

Thanked: 14I loaded this thread thinking I'd see yet another shiny Sheffield at the bottom of the pictures--what a pleasant surprise. This is a great argument for not buffing out every razor you restore--what an amazing patina! I (obviously) really like to look of clean yet aged steel.

Thanked: 1263Nice. Traditional on the tail end and a modern flair on the wedge end. Very cool

I was going for a little modern, but actually mostly got the idea from this old one: VINTAGE WADE & BUTCHER 9/8 MAGNUM BONUM JUMBO RAZOR KNIFE | eBay
Really cool wedge / cap.

Thanked: 14Wow. Not sure how I missed seeing that one... talk about top dollar, but that's a stunner of a W&B--almost as nice as yours!
I agree on the wedge/cap--very unique!

Does anyone have any experience with shaving with blades with patina? I'm wondering whether they are more prone to rusting than blades which have been polished.
