    Nice one! It's very natural, very rough. It looks like hand sanding for the finish. What grit did you sand to before the etch? And what did you etch in, vinegar?
    And finally, how thick is the spine? The blade looks almost flat ground, It must have been a large contact wheel.

    I sanded to 2000 grit before the etch. Yes, I did use vinegar for the etch. The spine is a hair less than a 1/4 inch. The blade is more hollow than it looks, It was ground on a 6" wheel.
