    Default shumate's dollar in cocobolo

This razor was an experimental restore. I had just enough wood left over from my last restore to make some scales for this one. The washers at the wedge were the first experiment. they are aluminum that i shaped and hammered to give them sort of an antique look. then i pinned the blade with no washers. i took Glen's advice on the scales and finished them with tung oil and paste wax to keep the woods natural look. i kept the blade patina to keep with the antique theme i was going for.

thanks, those washers were a b***h to hammer they were so small, but i learned a lot from this restore as to what i am able to do with a razor as far as design.

I like the figure 8 washers . A $ sign would be cool too, being a Shumate Dollar

Would love to hear how you ended up making the washers. Was it one washer hammered into an oval then twisted into an 8?

actually they were cut from one piece of aluminum. i filed them to shape and used a small jewlers hammer to refine the shape and flatten them. i wanted to make sure that the pins would get a good grip on them so it took some patience and a steady hand. cant wait to hone 'er up and shave. i hear the shumate's are grate shavers
