Honing was actually just fine with this one as I think after heat treat and the tempering temperature I used it should be around 61 HRC. I have not had it tested. It actually is just a bit harder to work with in the annealed state before heat treat. Filing was tougher and it really isn't easy on bandsaw blades to cut out the blank. I really liked the test shave off it a bit better than O1 I've used and similar to 1084.
