    Default 7/8~15/16 B.J.Eyre & Co

OK i just got this "B.J. Eyre & Co Challenge Razor Sheffield" it measures 15/16 at the toe, 7/8 at the heel "the challenge razor extra hollow ground on a 2 inch stone"

the crack by the wedge pin I've applied some ca to stabilize it, polished and honed.
cleanup: maas and a cloth to remove surface grime. then since i was going to leave the patina mainly intact, hand sanded at 2k wet/dry, using water, then switched to mineral oil.patina was lightened and the etching was still intact.
polishing: razor safely on a magnetic jig--- the evil dremel felt wheel tripoli this got rid of a lot of the patina. then i switched to stainless compound and brought it up to shiny.
yes there are some original grind marks, pitting and staining but the etchings are fine the blade looks much better than the pictures.
honed: shaptons on glass 2k, 3k, 4k, 6k and 8k. finished on a hunrueck thuringen, first with light slurry then just water.

sometimes a restore is just that to bring it back from the dead... not remake it. sorry if it is not up to everyone else's standards.

so is it before they bought out greaves in 1850? i know they re-organized as "eyre ward & co" in 1852, around 1872 they became part of wiebusch & hilger ltd.
