Twisted Oak's Ongoing Restorations Thread

The pages that follow will be updated periodically with new restorations I've completed on my ever growing stable of razors. Comments and criticism are most definitely welcome. Thanks for looking!

First up is an my first razor found in the wild: The H.P. "Prince Royal". You can see what they used to look like in this thread here, below is their updated appearance using the same scales just redesigned.




Next is a pair of different razors with similar shapes. A Griffon CarboMagnetic and a Sterling Razor Works. Both scales are made of Wenge, finished with tung oil, the wedge is made of Redheart, pins and washers are brass.



Here was an experiment that was a partial success. The blade is a W.H. Morley & Sons Hollow Ground. In keeping with the clover brand's theme I went with some green plastic scales and wedge (idea came from another member on here to use a clipboard). Pins and washers are brass. Where I tried to make it unique was with the wedge. I carved a clover into the wedge before gluing and pinning it since the scales are see through. Unfortunately, the glue filled in some of the space and distorted it... oh well, lesson learned.



Next is my best one yet IMHO. The blade is a George Wostenholm Celebrated IXL. The scales are Curly Maple with the wedge from Redheart, brass pins and washers.

Here is a reworked J.A. Henckels Twinworks 401. The first picture is the old set of scales I made for it. The new set are Wenge with brass pins/washers and purpleheart wedge.

Next is a C.F. Schwartz & Co "Sensation" 85. The blade was actually pretty clean before except for some pitting, the scales were crumbling away at the pivot and the wedge didn't come close to fitting. I think someone tried rescaling them and didn't do too well.

Scales are curly maple with brass pins/washer and purpleheart wedge.
