Three restores for a friend
Double Duck in green & orange Atlante with black G10 wedge
Henkels in black pearl Atlante with white pearl Atlante wedge
Boker wedge in dark red G10 with black G10 wedge
The scales were designed by my son LinacJr. We made the Boker scales a little to short, causing the wedge to be too short and consequently the pin to be too far near the end. It's hard to see in the photo, but LinacJr. designed the to end of the Henkels scales to have a concave area where the wedge is supposed to show. It does, but my execution of the design wasn't as good as it should have been.
The Atlante is a really easy material with which to work and has a beautiful luster that my photos don't entirely show. However, it tends to have some bubbles.
These aren't the best restores on the face of the planet, but as I told my friend don't look a gift horse in the mouthLast edited by LinacMan; 05-23-2012 at 02:42 AM.

Thanks Glen. I'll have to admit, I was a little apprehensive about how these scales would look when LinacJr sketched them out, but I think they turned out looking nice. I wish I'd turned the Atlante 90 degrees because it would have accented the pearlescent look a little better. It is comfortable in the hands, but I'll never know what it feels like while shaving. I'm not confident enough in my honing to hone a razor for someone else. My frined is a better honer than I am, so I sent them back to him today unhoned.

Thanks! My pictures don't do the scales material justice. The orangish vein running through the scales is the material itself, not a reflection from the musical instrument the razor is sitting on. I cut the two halves of the scales out of the stock material at slightly different angles - rookie error - making the two sides look totally different. I bought the Atlante from MaseCraft. I'll have to admit, when I talked to Masecraft's owner (Don??) he talked me into buying the green & orange. I wasn't too enamoured of it when looking at the website, but I'm glad I trusted his advice. It's a cool color combination.

Thanked: 1587Good work LinacMen, young and old alike! I particularly like the Duck, being a traditionalist at heart, but the others are quite excellent too.
James.

Fine restores I would say. Well done to both the designer and the craftsman.
