Thanked: 3my first restoration complete
I found a pretty rusty and chipped up Wade and Butcher at an antique store for a good price. The Horn scales were pretty rough and were flaking or delaminating. Made some new scales out of purple heart(i made a thread about that) and sanded the blade for many hours by hand. Put it all together with the original lead wedge, micro fastener steel washers, brass bushing and inside washers, and brass rod. My pinning skills and blade polishing skills need some serious work and I had to leave a lot of pitting in the blade to retain the etching, but its honed and shave ready.
original scales. interesting inlays on them.

Well done, the only way you will learn is to tackle these restores head on, restoring is very simular to honing, the more you do the better you get.
