Thanked: 20Gramp's Razor Restored!! :)
Hey guys-
I haven't gotten it back from Glen yet, but I'm just too thrilled right now to not share these pictures!!! This was my Grandfather's Rondinella that my Grandmother dug up from my Gramp's drawer. He passed about a year ago, so it's an absolute thrill to have such a great connection to him. Can not wait to shave with this thing and hold it in my hands!
Huge thanks Glen, I can't be happier!!! Cheers to grandfathers everywhere!

Thanked: 3228Everyone should be able to savor using grand dad's straight especially after a pro restoration but few get the chance. Enjoy your priviledge when it arrives.

I see a lot of people either passing up or tossing these blades away due to the honed out toe. In my opinion, once they're dialed in in the hones, they shave as good, sometimes better than a blade that is geometrically correct. Great razor and I'm sure that with Glen Honing it, it will shave spectacularly for years to come.

Thanked: 20Thanks guys, can't be more excited!! Yea Theseus, I'm interested to shave with this razor because of the honed out toe. I have another of my Gramp's razors (a bit rusted out and a no name, so I'm just holding onto it for a while), and it has the same hone wear. So it looks like that's how he always honed his razors. He also didn't use a strop according to my Grandma, which is quite unorthodox (unless my Gram is just misremembering, that could definitely be!! ).
But I'm sure it will shave great, and it looks great, and it was my Gramp's! Can't beat that!!

Thanked: 13249I am now sure it will shave great too hehehe... Just a little clarity, your Gramps looks to have been honing to a smile, this isn't a typical "Honed out toe" the edge and bevel are near perfectly even and form a beautiful even smile... You will see when it gets there, I just guided it a bit more when I had it on the hones... Enjoy the shaves
