Thanked: 0First Restoration - Dubl Duck Dwarf
Here it is! My first finished restoration. Its a Dubl Duck Dwarf that came with plenty of rust on the blade, and some discoloration on the scales. I sanded it down and honed it up, and now it is a sweet little shaver. I sanded it up to 800 grit with sandpaper then up to 12k with a progression of micromesh pads. Then honed it starting at a 1k, then pyramiding between 5k and 8k, and finishing with a 12k (all Naniwa SS). And last but not least, I used a homemade leather strop with CrOx to put the final touches on. I had a lot of trouble getting the gunk out between the pins and ended up using bits of floss.
Since it is my first restoration I know it isn't perfect, and I would greatly appreciate tips and critiques of any kind! Thanks for looking!

Thanked: 993Nice job. A gssixgun hint that I used to use before my buffers worked really well: Sand dry up to 600 grit. Then on your first pass of 600, do it dry. You second pass with 600, use WD40 as a lubricant. Continue this pattern until you hit 2k. It really helps to put a soft sheen on the blade when it's done.
Looks great though.

You did great for your first restore. That came out very well. And floss is good for cleaning around the pivot area when trying to clean things up. I use floss on the razors in my rotation

Good job for a first restore.
That Dubl Duck will turn out to be a great shaver!
I have two Dubl Ducks myself (Satinedge & Goldedge) and they are truly wonderfull shavers.
Enjoy your Dwarf!

Kalas, it looks really nice.
I've honed & shaved w/ 5 Satinedges, 2 goldenedges, 2 Dwarfs, and 3 Special #1s (pearlduck) The Dwarf and Spec#1 are the same blade as far as I can tell. I prefer them to the Satinedge or Goldenedge for their shorter cutting edge length. Each Dwarf Spec. #1 came in at .010" - on the fat side of extra hollow. 'Totally wonderful shavers. Though I've sold other Ducks, I don't part w/ my Special#1. I'm betting you find that one a wonderful shaver.
