Fixed up Wade and Butcher.
I grabbed this W&B in a lot off of Ebay for a steal. The horn scales were snapped on one side, so I got to build another set.
I used some Zebra and ascetate (wedge) that I had laying around.
Wood was finished with 8 coats of Tung oil.
I recreated the origonal scale shape and just made it look better.
I used brass pins, and stacked SS washers.
I made a few mistakes, the blade had a slight warp so I had to pin it using some of glens' suggestions from other threads.
Also, if you're wondering what that white stuff is that appears to be embedded in the scales, it's turtle wax. I tried to make them shinier
which turned out to be a terrible idea. Now I can't get it out. Oh well, it's just for me anyways!
Enough talking, on with the pictures (before and after).
After
As always, feedback is welcome. I like hearing everyones'
perception of my work.
Thanks for looking!

Thanked: 334Sir, I am amazed by your skill! Your scales are always stunning, but I think you really outdid yourself this time.

Very nice!
Too bad about the turtle wax, but I bet that after 8 coats you're none to eager to sand down, eh?
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

That's one good looking W&B. Love the fact that you kept the original shape for the scales. For a second there, I thought that the blade had new rust on it with the reflection from the table top
I can only wish I had your skills Sir.

Thanked: 2027They look great, just a thought,Punch a small hole in some masking tape, just big enough to fit over your rivetts, sand them down with some 600 grit to smooth out the peaning marks.

I like the masking tape idea, I think I'll do that thanks!
And there is no way in hell I'm sanding those scales down to get rid of that turtle wax!
I'll just live with itThrough the mud and the blood, to the green fields beyond.
