Robeson's Best restore
Hi all,
Here is this weekends entry into the 'old razors that get new life' posts.
This old Robeson has been in my collection for over a year, but has never been restored before. It didn't really 'need' it, as I have used it perfectly well all this time without it being super shiny, as when I got it it just had some patina and some discoloration here and there, it was fine as it was.
However, in looking at the whole collection this weekend, I realized it just didn't match up to it's brothers and was just begging for some love. So, I did.
She's housed in a one peice set of scales that are in amazingly good condition to start off. Some cleaning and polishing and they looked brand new.
The blade had the printing 'Robeson's Best' on the blade, but it was just a stamping, not an etching, and it came off in the first 10 seconds of polishing. It is barely visible if you hold it in hand and at the right angle, you can still see it, but as you can tell in the pics, it doesn't show in the photos.
It took and amazing edge when I was finished, and is going to get the shave test here in about 1/2 an hour.
I'm looking forward to trying it again for the first time!! heheheh
Have a great Sunday guys, and GO BRONCO's!!!

After your reference to the razor's brothers I was going to say what a handsome fellow he is, but then I noticed your reference to 'she' so I'll change my description to what a beautiful razor. And a good restoration of course.

Hey Rob!! Ya, don't ask me why, but some razors are male, some female. Depends on how delicate, etc.. Super hollow grounds are 'she' and the thicker heavier blades are 'He'. Don't ask me why! LOL...
And thank you for the comps.. She has always been one of my favorite hollows.
