Thanked: 12#7 is a Peso Hamburg. Blade needed lots of work and I did my second set of CA glue scales. I had a better idea what I was doing with this set of scales. scales are made from Purpleheart Wood. as I make all of my own washers I had some extra sheet brass so tried my hand at a shimmed wedge this time. Really wish I had a camera and not just my phone.

Thanked: 12#7 is a P. Rosenkaimer Koln. this one has a great graphic on the blade so only restored the backside and tang leaving the graphic alone. I made the scales out of Padauk. Went for a more knobby feel on the scales this time.

Thanked: 12This is my last finished one. I have one more on the go but not ready yet. This is a Wall & Morritz XXX. The blade was in real bad shape with tons of rust on it. I dont have a before pic but it was the worst blade I had restored. the pitting was incredible on the blade. I used purpleheart wood for the scales. I opted to go for a nice slim sleek look with this razor.

Thanked: 12Completely agree on the red scales. they could use much work. I however wish to keep them the way they are as a reminder of what I was once able to do. that razor holds a spot of honor right in the middle of my display rack and is in my rotation. I wont do any more work on it as I like it just how it is! as bad as that might be!

Your finish on the wood scales looks very nicely done.

Thanked: 1185You've given me hope. For someone with no metal or woodworking skills your razors look great. I especially like the frameback. I've been promising myself for a couple years that I'd nut up and do a full restoration. Maybe my new years resolution.
The older I get, the better I was

Those look quite good! Very Cool!
I would call them "semicustoms" As the scales are custom. A "restoration" would include original, or close, scales. JMO. Nice work!Last edited by sharptonn; 10-10-2012 at 02:59 AM.
"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.
