Old and rusty now shiny and in Jade G10
Have not had time to do any razors for myself for some time. I have a 4 month backlog on work at this point. But I decided to take a couple days to make myself a new razor. This guy was rusty and in broken horn scales. It got pulled, hit with greaseless compounds, then hand sanded, then buffed out to get a near mirror finish.
I had some jade G10 that has been sitting for over a year. Decided to use that for scales. I forgot how hard G10 was. I burnt up 3 scroll saw blades cutting it. Pins are 1/16 brass rod with brass over stainless washers and brass thrust bearings. The wedge is bone. Now I have to hone it and see if it shaves.

Wow!! I know nothing about restoration, still only on my 3rd shave, but that thing looks gorgeous!! I think I found my dream razor
That jade is beautiful! Is that stuff pricey, compared to lets say pearl or horns?
I just bought a $20 razor from someone on SRP. Its a Sheffield near wedge. I have no clue from when... How would I find that out? Anyways, the inside of the scales could use some cleaning. The look dirty and kinda brown like those. Is there a way I can do that without opening it? If not, guess I'll wait for a meet up in VA.
Nice work!!

The blade is a 7/8 American knife works French point. I honed it up to a scary sharp edge saturday and gave it a test drive this morning. It is a keeper. Shaves like a dream. Just wipes away the whiskers and that was with two days on the beard. Looks like I will be selling off a different razor to make room for this one in the display case.
