    I don't know if anyone would be interested, but in the process of searching for something else on Google I found some disussion on pinning and inlayed decoration.
    Start at the bottom of this page and there is some more information on the next page but I went no further.

    Indeed, very interesting, MattW ! These techniques described by Neil are in that thread as well. The ivory penknife pictured looks as if it was decorated by the same artisan. Thanks for sharing that. Tom

    NICE work Tom!!

    Makes you wonder how the old masters got anything built when doing stuff like that. Patience and skill I'd think, and the fact that labor was the cheapest commodity "back in the day."

    Once again, all I can say is that you have put up a unique razor with a unique solution to restoring it. Beautiful work and the final result is amazing. The razor happened to bring to mind a Paul Simon song: "Diamonds On The Soles Of Her Shoes". Now I have to try and go to bed and get that tune out of my head!
