Wow guys, thanks for the kudo's!
I have a hard time turning any razor away. Somehow I'll find a way to get them back up and running. Regardless if they look like they've been hit by a shotgun,, or have been eaten by the rust bug. It's my mission in life I think. They all need a chance in my book.
Thanks again.

Kudos? Man, my jaw is around my knees with admiration! How in Hades were you able to perform such magic? Superlative work is all I can say.
I don't know whether to thank you or curse you for your post. Thanks are in order for showing what is possible. Curses are in order for showing just how lame my efforts at restoration are! In the end, thanks wins out.

Thanked: 66Would it be rude to ask a dumb question? Did you re-etch it? Or is that original etching?

That's absolutely gorgeous!
I restored this bad boy's twin brother not too long ago. Like yours, the scales on mine were completely shot but I was able to save the wedge too. I am proud of how my scales turned out but I have to say you took it to a whole other level with the way you cleaned that blade up.
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

That's the original etch. I wouldn't know how to go about re-doing one. I have done quite a bit of acid etches, on blades, but nothing like these,, but I wish I could.
@ cangooner,,, they sure are fun aren't they? I've done 4 in the past month, all duplicates of each other, though, I think this is how they look the best.Last edited by mycarver; 11-16-2012 at 04:21 AM.
