Thanked: 5By no means beautiful- but functional
This is my poor poor Parker. The rivet was too tight and one side if the scales shattered. I had bought these to play with learning to repin however normal pins dont work on a Parker. Please dont judge me on the hinge, I'm going to replace that with something either brass or SS. It was a quick job so that I could keep shaving with a straight and not a cartridge. The handle is way too long but it makes the Parker so much easier to handle. I feel like I have more control over the blade now. Its ugly, but its mine and it WORKS.

As several of the Mods are my friends I'm sure that none would argue that this is in the proper place!!! It's your 'restore' be proud of it!
Who cares if the pivot isn't to what you think others think it should be! As you said: "Its ugly, but its mine and it WORKS".
Nothing wrong with that statement! As you said,it works! I can't tell you how many razors that I've seen posted that some old boy years and years ago was trying to make due and be able to keep using his straight razor used a small nail and small plain steel flat washer to patch his razor up!
You've been very ingenious! You've done nothing wrong! Keep at it, and when you decide to try something different, please let us know!
Perhaps there are some 'Holier than Thou' types who would 'critique' or condemn but I would hope not!
To tell you how 'ingenious' I was many years ago, I was 300+ miles away from home when the throttle cable broke! It was a Sunday so no Dealerships were open and no Parts houses carried it. I got home along with my friends by running our shoe strings through the firewall and hooked them to the throttle cable and used a small dried branch and our hands to get home!
Were there is a will there is a way!
Good Job! Hang in there!Last edited by cudarunner; 12-04-2012 at 09:33 PM.
