    Default Bolster Transfer Completed

Well for my first bolster transfer I don't think it turned out to bad. If I wouldn't have ruined the scales in the first place I wouldn't have had to do it at all, but it was a fun learning experience. The scales are ebony, but they aren't jet black like in the pictures. There is a couple nice brown sapwood streaks and the red is darker and not pink looking. The razor is a 5/8 S.R. Droescher that needed some TLC. I saw it and liked the look of it and thought I would take a chance. For $16 figured if the blade turned out pointless I could still use the scales, but ended up having to replace the scales and keep the blade. I left the patina on the sides and bottom of the shank/tang wherever there was hammer marks, but the blade and top of the spine to the tang I polished. As you can see from the before pictures there was a small chip near the toe that I decided to just round the toe alittle which doesn't really bother me since square or spike points and I don't seem to get along that well. I was surprised at how well it actually cleaned up since it looked like it would have left alot of marks. Now the next time I have to do a transfer I will know what to do so I won't have to keep going back to fix things. It still could have turned out better, but for my first time I can't complain all that much.

Excellent job, looks great with the ebony wood.
Mastering implies there is nothing more for you to learn of something... I prefer proficient enough to not totally screw it up.

I will have to find one of those and have a go. This looks so much better than before. Well done.
