    My personal taste leans to the original shape but I do like the scale material you chose.

    Those old horn ones will restore vey nicely if the other side is as good as on the first pic. Those few bug bites could be filled &/or sanded out.
    The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

    The problem, at least for me, with "one size fits all" scales is that they don't necessarily really fit the razor. There is a lot of space between the wedge and the end of the razor - personally don't care for that. You may be able to redrill the pivot hole and cut down the end of the scales to make them fit closer. Good job for a first attempt.
