    Default Wade and butcher 7/8

Another custom restoration I've rescently finished is a wade and butcher 7/8 near wedge, I kept some of the patina on the blade as I'm not a big fan of these old big wedges looking pristine and new, and made the scales from buffalo horn with ox bone wedge. The horn has a beautiful grain in that I tried to capture in the photos. I copied the notch in the scales and I think they look rather well. They are pinned together with nickel silver rod and washers. She just needs a hone now!! Thanks. Rob. Name: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1351166450.091237.jpg

I like your barber notch on the scales. Kidna reminds me of a bowtie, and that old WB is headed out on the town for an elegant evening.

It's good to see another old razor back on the line.
    Thanks for sharing it.

Great restore. I am also doing a restore of what I think is a very similar blade. I can see a stamp on the tang under wade and butcher but cant make it out. On my blade the stamp is of an arrow and and iron cross. I have been trying to date it but have only found a few different articles but no pics. Do you know what year the blade above is? Any help on dating my blade would be much appreciated.

    Excellent solution.
Whether it was necessary recover and fully remove the patina - a question disputable.
Very decent clothes for a very decent wedge.
    Skills at a high level.
    I like it.
If something is unclear in the text, please correct me ......

Nice work on the scales - my only comment is that maybe the wedge could do with being a little wider so that the blade sits further down - that's if the photos are accurate or maybe you are not showing the fully closed position.

Excellent work. Love those old W&B's. The scales fit nicely with the blade and I like the notch in the scales. Keep up the good work!

I'm afraid I don't know the age, I wouldn't mind knowing myself!! I will have a guess and say 1860 ish but I may be a decade or two out!! I'm sure somebody will post a more accurate answer, I'm not very good at dating razors tbh.
