Early 1800s "Warranted" smiling stubtai in black horn.l
This razor belonged to my step-aunts father who died last year.
I had planned to try to save the original scales but they had several cracks and broke when I unpinned the razor, so I copied the scales and reused the original lead wedge.
The razor gives a decent shave but I prefer the younger razors with harder steel.
Before.
After.

A very unusual razor. Excellent and decent work.
Through such works stronger family ties, and descendants remember their ancestors.
I very much respect this attitude to old things, get a second life.
I could not keep a razor grandfather and lost it 20 years ago and strongly regret.
Good luck ...If something is unclear in the text, please correct me ......

Thanked: 194wow what a smile on that blade. you have to make a choice to either keep it in shaving condition and working order or if you would like you could prepare it for a long life storage and display it as a family heirloom. either way its beautiful!

Thanked: 480That is a wonderful old soul in that steel. Try differing your hone style with it. You may find a better shave using a Coti instead of a Thury stone, or vice versa. It may be a case of "Less is More"
