Joseph Rodgers Rescale
Hello All,
I wish I had "before" pics as the razor was a mess, but alas..
Here is a 6/8" Joseph Rodgers "Cutlers to their Majesties" that I picked up with broken/warped scales (black celluloid). I ordered some Olive Wood scales online, cleaned up the blade, and rescaled the razor. I then ran it over my Swaty hone and shaved with it last night, which went wonderfully!
This is what I ended up with. It's my second attempt at a rescale and I think I'm getting the hang of it!!

I found rescaling isn't so bad until you hit a razor where the pivot hole is rusted out real bad. I had to rescale my great great grandfather's wade and butcher 5/8 wedge and that got interesting. I ended up deliberately bending the pin to force it to be tight.

Very Nice!
No surprise the shave went 'wonderfully', that is how Joseph Rodgers & Sons razors shave. I love mine, they are the best shavers I have.

I agree with blades in wooden scales. I like g10 and micarta as will but wood really pops.
Bakelite and celluloid...I would get rid of them all. Those two I just don't like.
Great looking scales on this one.
