One groovy German in orange G10
So my Dovo best quality original scales had broke (the black ones) then I made some walnut scales for it to do the job for a while. Now that I have a few scale sets under my belt, I think I'm getting a little better at making them compared to my first set. I also had some G10 left and some time from the holiday break while I was off of school so I tried to put a twist on a normal set of scales. Looking back I think using the layered G10 would have looked even better, but I may always wind up trying that in the future. Let me know what you think!
First set of scales ever...
G10 with a groovy twist (I hope you can see)

Personally I generally prefer natural materials for scales, but both sets look good.

I spaced out lines (in pencil), then sanded with a round sanding bit (fairly large, but I don't know the technical name for what kind of bit its called) probably 2 inch diameter or so, this was in the drill press so it would rotate upright... But with the lines I spaced out, I sanded on top of every line on the top of the scales, and between the lines on the bottom side of the scales to get the alternating pattern. Sanding unevenly (focusing on removing more from the edges than the center) but trying to keep them all about the same depth and width a lot of it was just eyeballing it. I hope this makes sense. If you still aren't sure I could try to make a little more sense with props and stuff lol. Let me know.

I like the g10 scales, they almost remind me of a tool handle or something, or something you'd find in an emergency kit, if that makes sense... I have also used my drill press like you described, it works good if you have a big wood rasp or grindstone that would be too cumbersome to use in a hand drill with something smaller, like a set of scales

Yes, I replaced the originals with wooden scales over the summer time, then just replaced the wooden set with g10 over the holidays for a little change. I might have to make another set of wooden scales sometime soon though because now I don't have any!
